Hello Friends,
I have so much exciting news to share with you all!
SHOP ON THE WEBSITE
You can now purchase artwork directly from my website at https://whitneyriver.com
All available work can be found in the “Shop.”
ARCHIVAL PRINTS
Included in the shop are archival prints of two of my favorite Moon Shell drawings. I have a limited edition of 20 prints of Moon Shell 5 and Moon Shell 20 for sale. I am very happy to have these two images available in greater numbers. The Moon Shells have a special place in my heart, and feel newly relevant to me ~ please read my Moon Shell Statement while you are visiting my website. The shells are extremely time consuming to draw, so the ability to reproduce them and have more of them to share with you all (at a more affordable price) feels very good.
WATERCOLORS
Another huge addition to my website are my watercolor paintings. This work, which I refer to as the “Horizon” series, is quite different from my oil paintings and my graphite work. I find the medium to be in some ways very challenging, and in others quite liberating. The paintings in this series are small, and more affordable than the oils or graphite. I hope you enjoy them!
SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT
I was so pleased to have been invited to participate in the long standing, much loved show at High Mountain Hall during Camden’s Christmas by the Sea festivities this year. This show has happened every year for decades, and always features a wonderful group of mid-coast artists. Since the show is traditionally only one weekend long, and and gets very crowded, we have had to go online only for 2020. Please look for an official show announcement with the URL for the show’s website coming next week. The virtual exhibit launches November 23 and will run through Christmas.
VIDEO
One final note ~ I was honored by a request from my son’s art teacher early this fall to create a video about my work. Every year, she does a unit on drawing natural objects from observation, using graphite, with an emphasis on shading. As all teachers are having to come up with new ways of teaching this year, she thought of having a video presentation by a local graphite artist to show her students. I was excited for the challenge, and it ended up being a very fun project for me! It is available to view on YouTube, as well as on my website. I hope you will take a few minutes to watch it, and please feel free to share it with anyone you think might be interested. I am happy to have other teachers use it in their classrooms as well.
I hope you all have a healthy, fun holiday season filled with love. Stay safe.
~ Whitney
